Torque testing closures on multi-way plastic bottles

A pharmaceuticals company wanted to test the closure torque of a series of square-profile PET bottles.
Having their operator adjust the measuring head of their Vortex-i torque tester to fit different height bottles was wasting too much time.
To allow all bottles to be tested at a constant height, Mecmesin designed and produced a set of nesting bottle holders tailored to each size. These ensured bottles were axially aligned and presented at the right height under the torque head, thereby significantly reducing testing time.
All closures were gripped using dedicated mandrels, which hold uniformly around the circumference of the closure without deforming them and thus affecting the torque readings.
