Customised engineering example
A major manufacturer of wire harnesses and connectors approached us for a cost-effective solution to pull-force test cables with different diameters having direct-bonded joints.
The joints were ultrasonically-welded to create a spliced harness for which the expected pull-out tensile force was up to 1 kN. Holding the insulated wire without slipping was the challenge.
Mecmesin designed a pair of narrow-profile cam grips with a locking-lever and a stability-lever to minimise the risk of side-load being applied when securing the wire inside the grip.
The grips enabled samples to be inserted rapidly and held securely without slippage guaranteeing maximum throughput on their test system.
