Our customer’s quality laboratory decided to upgrade their equipment and contacted G.T. Michelli Co. to provide them with a new system. Initially we evaluated a Mecmesin competitor’s system, and it failed to meet the standards required. We had recently sold a Mecmesin torque tester to another customer and so were aware of the force test stands the company manufactures. I contacted Mecmesin’s technical sales engineers and supplied some samples and within days a complete solution was developed and demonstrated. This system now performs our customer’s tests seamlessly, with higher accuracy and less uncertainty than ever before. The system is so easy to use and the software so intuitive that the operator needed very little assistance!

Tension and compression testing for education in solid mechanics
The Bioengineering Department at Imperial required a new system for teaching purposes to demonstrate tensile and compressive testing on a range of different materials and custom fixtures. A system was needed that was flexible and easy to use but with a compact form that would fit our available space. The MultiTest 5-xt was an ideal solution and the hardware support from Mecmesin has been excellent.

Shoulder prostheses tensile testing
I am very pleased with both the service from Mecmesin and the MultiTest 10-x test system and would recommend it for testing many of the aspects of soft tissue repair in orthopaedics. The MultiTest 10-x is easy-to-use and ideal for this application, of testing the fixation of bones and tendons around a prosthesis inserted for fracture of the shoulder.

We have used Mecmesin equipment for a number of years to perform compression and tension tests on helical springs intended for use in our respiratory drug delivery devices. We now estimate that every second, more than a thousand people rely on a Bespak device to help them breathe and as our testing requirements have grown, so too has our relationship with Mecmesin. Over the course of my PhD I have developed a new methodology to physically test the mechanical performance of teeth using the Mecmesin MultiTest 2.5-i. At the start of my project I needed a small, low cost, but accurate materials testing machine which could be programmed, and fitted, to run a large number of different test programs. The easy-to-use interface, accuracy and reliability of the MultiTest 2.5-i and the excellent service from Mecmesin has made my project run smoothly and has produced highly publishable results.

Having developed a medical device from a blank sheet of paper to a prototype level, we entered into a significant programme of test and development. Previous smaller test programs had used bespoke machinery developed in-house, which although suitable for the task, lacked versatility for the broad range of tests to be carried out, particularly from a programming standpoint. The test programme involved some 40 evaluations, to be conducted in a very condensed timeframe.

The MultiTest 1-i has been purchased to test the physical properties of raw materials and finished products. The 10N loadcell is able to measure to two decimal places, which gives a very sensitive and accurate reading, and this test works very well. The MultiTest 1-i meets our needs and with time has proved user friendly.
