Location
Research & Development Internship (1 year)  £15,000 per annum

Mecmesin Ltd. are a global company with the headquarters based in Slinfold near Horsham, West Sussex.  We are a leading manufacturer of force and torque testing equipment which is marketed to a vast customer base across a whole range of different industries.  Please see our website for full details.

We are looking for at least 2 interns from July 2012,  for a one year placement, to assist our Technical Business Development Manager with various projects. You will need to have an Engineering or Physical Sciences background with some experience of Mechanical or Electronic Design and an interest in :

 

  • software or firmware
  • marketing or commercialisation of technical products
We expect interns to have an undergraduate level of mathematics, enthusiasm to learn, excellent communication and computer skills, and commitment to the year’s placement.

CNC Machine Programmer / Operator

Mecmesin Ltd. require assistance in their Machine Shop, to produce the machined component parts high quality standards, to ensure production schedules are met in Manufacturing Dept.

Main purpose of the job:


  • To machine Mecmesin parts to high quality standards, in accordance with company policies and our ISO 9001 procedures.

 

  • To produce the component parts required in a timely manner to ensure production schedules are met in Manufacturing Dept.

 

Key tasks:

 

  1. To programme, set and run the CNC Bridgeport VMC 800 XP machine.
  2. To machine component parts to the required quality standards in line with technical drawings as required.
  3. To maintain the machines on a daily basis to include regular checks of coolant and oil levels.
  4. Keeping all data process sheets up to date.
  5. To keep shop floor clean and clear of obstacles in order to prevent any possible accidents.
  6. To carry out any other duties requested by the manager within the scope of this role.

 

Key skills required are:

  • Good level of general machine shop experience with specific experience of using Bridgeport VMC 800 XP with Heidenhain 530 control (software).
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings
  • High standards in maintaining a clean, safe working environment within the machine shop area
  • Keen to contribute to team work
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues a machine shop environment.
  • Confident to work on their own initiative
